Principal’s Report
Our absolute mission is to contribute to build up the future
generation of our motherland. We are proud to claim that Royal English
School has produced
hundreds of well-informed personalities who have risen to commendable levels
nationally and internationally.
Our academic classes extend from Play Group for three year
old kids to G.C.E (Ordinary Level) according to the Sri Lankan Syllabus. Our
students also get the opportunity to sit the IPSCE, IJSCE, ISSCE Examinations
which are conducted by the Association of International Schools in Sri Lanka and also the IAS Examination conducted
by the University
of New South Wales .
While English is the medium of instruction, other languages,
Sinhalese and Tamil are also taught. Place of prominence is given to the teaching
of Religion. Information Technology (IT) has also gained much ground among
students.
The fact that our students have gained good progress in their
academic work is proved by the results of the Public Examinations. For example

Co-curricular
Activities
According to the principles of education, co-curricular activities are
an essential component or a vital part in the process of moulding the child’s
character and personality. Accordingly, a number of co-curricular activities
are implemented according to the Annual calendar of our school. These activities
are based on promoting the religious, traditional, cultural and social values
among the children. The meetings of “Interest
clubs” are conducted on a regular basis. These “Interest clubs” have been organized covering a broad area including
chess, carrom, scrabble, etc… Competitions are organized in speech, recitation
and essay writing with the hope of improving the use of language.
Extra-Curricular Activities.
Students in Royal English School take part in Cricket, Badminton,
Basketball, Netball, Swimming, Athletics etc… Well experienced coaches and
instructors have been deployed for this purpose. Students responses in
participating in sports event are wonderful. I would like to mention about some
landmark achievements of our students in the field of sports and Games

At the inter-international Schools Cricket Tournament 2012 the under 19
team was declared Champions.

At the inter-international school Netball Tournament the under-15 team
was declared Champions.

At the inter-international schools Essay Competition in 2011 Miss. Nafla Shafi was
adjudged the best essayist.

The “Swimming Mermaid” of Royal English
School Oshani Himasha Munaweera
has won more than 50 Gold medals in many swimming competition in Regional and
All-island held within last two years. She was placed

Tutorial staff
Our tutorial staff is headed by the Principal assisted by
the Vice Principals, Heads of Departments and Grade Co-ordinators.
Board of Prefects
Every year senior and junior prefects are selected. These
selections are done investigating into the personality traits, behaviour,
discipline in different spheres. They are constantly trained in leadership
programmes.
Interaction of Parents
and Teachers
I
am quite pleased to mention here that the parents of our students are always
much keen on the school and they never hesitate to extend their co-operation to
the school administration. Every term a "Parents - Teachers Contact
meeting" is held. At such meeting Parents and Teachers get an ideal
opportunity to discuss matters concerning their children’s work in school.
My sincere thanks to the Vice Principals,
Heads of Department, Grade Co-ordinators and members of the Academic and
Non-academic staff. Finally my appreciations go to the students for their
sincere co-operation and commitment to the progress of Royal English
